Heck Powers Irish On Day One Of The Moon Golf Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Notre Dame women’s golf team opened the spring portion of their 2018-19 schedule on Monday at the Moon Golf Invitational and sophomore Abby Heck led the way, firing a four-under par 68 in the morning round and following up with a two-under par 70 in the afternoon at the Duran Golf Club (Par 72, 6,309 yards).
At 138 (-6), Heck sits in third place, two strokes behind co-leaders of Lauren Hartlage (Louisville  and Libby Winans (Oklahoma). Heck’s first round 68 matched her career-best round. She had 10 birdies in the two rounds, tied for the fifth-highest total in the 90 player field.
Senior Emma Albrecht is close behind Heck, tied for sixth with a 140 (-6). She shot an opening round 69 and followed with a 71 in the afternoon.
As a team, the Irish shot a 588 (297-291) on Monday and sit in 12th place with one round remaining. Louisville (284-285=569) and UCF (286-283=569) are tied for the lead in the 16-team field.  
Senior Isabella DiLisio shot an opening round 76 and followed with an even-par 72 in the afternoon, both of which counted for the Irish. Her day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 ninth during the first round of play.
Freshman Claire Albrecht’s first round 84 and junior Mia Ayer’s second round 78 also counted towards Notre Dame’s team score.
