Heck Earns Runner-Up Honors At Moon Golf Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Notre Dame women’s golfer Abby Heck picked up where she left off from yesterday at the Moon Golf Invitational and closed with a final round, three-under par 69 to take sole possession of second place for her best collegiate finish.
 
Playing at the Duran Golf Club (Par 72, 6,309 yards), Heck finished at nine-under par (68-70-69=207) over the three rounds, one shot back of medalist Lauren Hartlage (Louisville). In Monday’s final round, she she had four birdies and a bogey to go along with 13 pars.

“We’re so happy for Abby!” head coach Susan Holt said. “She played solid for three rounds, managed her game to perfection around this course and it showed as she made 14 birdies over the three rounds.”
 
Heck’s 14 birdies tied for fourth-most in the 90 player field. She also played the par 5’s at a five-under par clip.

Emma Albrecht shot a final round 73 and tied for 13th (69-71-73=213). Isabella DiLisio shot a final round 79 for Notre Dame’s third-best score of the day. Mia Ayer and Claire Albrecht carded 82’s to also score for the Irish.      
 
Central Florida (286-283-280=849) won the tournament, followed by Louisville (284-285-289=858) in second place. Notre Dame carded a final round 303 and placed 14th (297-291-303=891).

The Fighting Irish have a quick turnaround, as they will hit the road next weekend to take part in the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona on Feb. 24-25.
