Ogunbowale Named ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) named Notre Dame senior guard Arike Ogunbowale as its Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech’s Elizabeth Dixon and Syracuse’s Maeve Dialdi-Tabdi were announced as co-ACC Rookies of the Week.
 
Ogunbowale has helped the No. 1 Fighting Irish off to 3-0 start, picking up a 75-55 win at home versus Penn, along with a 101-77 victory at No. 15 DePaul. The Milwaukee native averaged 22.5 and 4.5 assists in the two wins.
 
Ogunbowale tallied 21 points against Penn where she dished out a career high tying six assists. The senior followed that performance with 24 points at DePaul, in which she scored 19 by the half. Furthermore, Ogunbowale went 13-for-14 for the week from the free-throw line.
 
In addition, the senior is now 3-for-3 in 20-point scoring games to start the year. Last year, Ogunbowale broke the Notre Dame single season record with 25.
 
Ogunbowale ranks ninth in the country in points per game at 25.0 and 18th in free throws made with 22.
 
Up next, the Irish will compete in the Vancouver Showcase, starting with Gonzaga on Thursday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. ET.
