As part of Notre Dame’s recent celebration honoring 35 years of women’s athletics, the Irish women’s basketball program held a special gathering on April 28 at the home of head coach Muffet McGraw. More than 25 former members of the program were on hand for the reception, including six members of Notre Dame’s 1,000-Point Club — Sandy Botham (8th – 1,460 points), Shari Matvey (11th – 1,373), Mary Beth Schueth (14th – 1,233), Krissi Davis (17th – 1,194), Carrie Bates (20th – 1,060) and Mollie Peirick (22nd – 1,034).

Former head coach Sharon Petro (1977-80) and current Notre Dame deputy athletics director/former Irish basketball player Missy Conboy (1978-82) also were in attendance, as was longtime Joyce Center timekeeper Chuck Webber, who has worked nearly every one of the 378 Irish women’s basketball home games played since the program achieved varsity status in 1977-78.
