Notre Dame head women's tennis coach Jay Louderback has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with the Fighting Irish program, which he has guided to 16 consecutive national top 30 finishes and three NCAA quarterfinal berths.

Women's Tennis To Compete In National Team Indoor Championships

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 4 Notre Dame women’s tennis team will travel to Madison, Wisc. this week to take part in the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Team Indoor Championships at the A.C. Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

The Irish (2-0), appearing in the tournament for the first time since the 2002 season, are scheduled to open play Thursday at 3:30 p.m., taking on No. 18 Clemson. It will mark the second time that Notre Dame and the Tigers will meet in the National Team Indoor Championships. The Irish routed Clemson, 9-0, during the 1999 season.

If Notre Dame was to win, they will take on the winner of the match between #10 Baylor and #37 BYU Friday at 3:30 p.m. Notre Dame is guaranteed to play matches on Friday and Saturday and will advance to Sunday’s final if the Irish win each of their first three contests.

Five teams on Notre Dame’s 2007 dual-match schedule are in the field: BYU, North Carolina, Northwestern, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. Also making the tournament is Baylor, Cal, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, Pepperdine, Stanford, TCU, UCLA and VCU.

Notre Dame participated in the tournament nine consecutive years from 1994-2002, finishing tied for fifth in 1994 and 2001, and have an overall record of 12-15. See year-by-year results below:
