Women's Tennis Defeats Wisconsin at Midwest Regional

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team posted a 5-1 win over Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the NCAA Midwest Regional. Notre Dame will now face UCLA in the regional final on Sunday as the Bruins were a 5-0 winner in the other semifinal.

Notre Dame is the No. 2 seed in the event while UCLA is No. 1 and Wisconsin was No. 3. The winner of the regional advances to the 16-team NCAA Championship, which begins at Notre Dame on Thursday.

Notre Dame freshman Michelle Dasso had the clinching match for the Irish on Saturday at No. 2 singles as she posted a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win over Andrea Nathan. Other winners on the day for the Irish were junior Marisa Velasco at No. 3, senior Tiffany Gates at No. 4, sophomore Kelly Zalinski at No. 5 and freshman Kim Guy at No. 6.
