ORLANDO, Fla. — The 13th-ranked Notre Dame women’s tennis opened play at the adidas College Invitational in Orlando, Fla., on Friday and played one singles player in the semifinals and three doubles in the quarterfinals and semifinals. Senior Kimblery Guy won a pair of singles matches to reach the semifinals of the B Flight singles draw. The doubles teams of senior Michelle Dasso and Becky Varnum and sophomore Katie Cunha and Guy each won their first match to the reach the quarterfinals of the A Flight doubles competition. Juniors Lindsey Green and Nina Vaughan won to advance to the semifinals of the B Flight doubles draw. Action in the three-day event continues on Saturday.

Guy rolled into the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Stacy Kokx of Northwestern and Crystal Cleveland of Tennessee 6-1, 6-1. She will meet Northwestern’s Jessica Rush in the semifinals on Saturday. Dasso and Varnum edged Rush and Colleen Cheng 8-6, and Cunha and Guy defeated Tennessee’s Vilmarie Castellvi and Alison Ojeda 8-4. Green and Vaughan beat Ruth Barnes and Kokx 8-3.
