ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The 14th-ranked Notre Dame women’s tennis team won five singles matches and swept the doubles for an 8-1 win to record its sixth consectitve win over Michigan on Wednesday. The Irish won in straight sets at Nos. 3-6 singles to improve to 14-5 on the season. The 57th-ranked Wolverines fall to 6-6 with the loss. Notre Dame returns to the court when 58th-ranked Wisconsin travels to the Eck Tennis Pavilion on Sun., April 2, for a 10:30 a.m. match.

Junior All-American and 16th-ranked Michelle Dasso held on to beat Brooke Hart 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles for her 15th win at No. 1 singles. Senior Kelly Zalinski downed Szandra Fuzesi 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while sophomore Nina Vaughan beat Joanne Musgrove 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Lindsey Green won her 15th dual singles match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles over Alison Sinclair. Freshman Katie Cunha improved to 8-1 in dual matches by defeating Marya Farah 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Michigan’s Danielle Lund rallied to edge Irish sophomore Becky Varnum 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 at No. 2 singles for the Wolverine’s point.

The 24th-ranked team of Dasso and Varnum beat Fuzesi and Lund 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Green and Zalinski won their ninth straight match to improve to 20-8 with an 8-4 win over Hart and Musgrove at No. 2 doubles. Cunha and Vaughan defeated Farah and Sinclair 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
