The University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2005-06 season on Saturday, as three swimmers competed in the preliminaries of day three at the NCAA Championship on campus at the University of Georgia. Junior Julia Quinn, junior Katie Carroll and freshman Claire Hutchinson all appeared in the pool for the Irish on Saturday.

Quinn posted the top finish of the day for the Irish, finishing 20th in the women’s 200 breaststroke. Her solid time of 2:15.24 is the seventh-fastest in Notre Dame women’s swimming history and just off her season-best time of 2:14.27. Quinn finished 33rd in the 100 breaststroke during Friday’s sessions (1:03.63).

Carroll and Hutchinson, both coming off gutsy performances on Friday while affected by a stomach ailment, swam well in their respective races. Carroll finished 32nd in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.66. Carroll also competed in the 200 and 400 individual medleys earlier in the competition and earned honorable mention All-America honors with a 13th-place finish in the 200 IM.

Hutchinson posted a solid effort in the 1,650 freestyle on Saturday evening. She ended up 25th with a time of 16:34.92, the sixth-fastest time in school history. Hutchinson also competed in the 500 freestyle (38th) and 400 IM (39th).
