Oct. 13, 2000

The University of Notre Dame women’s swimming team won the first dual meet of the 2000-01 season 113-88 over the University of Tampa on Friday, Oct. 13, in Tampa, Fla.

The Irish won seven of the eleven events on the day, including the first three of the meet.

The team of freshmen Lisa Garcia and Danielle Hulick along with seniors Kathleen Rimkus and Brooke Davey began the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The 1,650 freestyle was next, which junior Allison Lloyd won comfortably followed by teammate and senior Tiffany O’Brien. Sophomore Nicole Kohrt stepped up to put the meet out of reach in the third race by caputring the 200 freestyle.

Other individual winners on the day for the Irish included freshman Laurie Musgrave (100 freestyle), Hulick (100 backstroke), and junior Kelly Hecking (500 freestyle).

A problem developed with the meet scoring and times were unavailable after the meet. Results will be posted as soon as they are made available.

Notre Dame will remain in Florida over the Fall Break session to train before returning for classes on Oct. 22.
