Women's Swimming Finishes Day One Of Texas A&M Invitational

College Station, Texas – The Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team, competing without 11 members of the team who are ill, finished day one of the Texas A&M Invitational with two ninth-place finishes as its highest results. The 200 free relay team of Danielle Hulick, Katie Carroll, Lisa Garcia and Ellen Johnson was ninth in 1:47.77. UCLA was first in 1:42.57.

Carroll also placed ninth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:16.20. Texas A&M’s Rebecca Sturdy was first in 2:12.30. Garcia was 24th in 2:20.63, while Jessica Stephens was 30th in 2:21.39.

Other results for the Irish included freshman Abby Strang who was 29th in the 500 free in 4:23.42. SMU’s Georgina Lee was first in 4:08.42. In the 50 freestyle, Hulick placed seventh in the consolation final with a time of 25.88 UCLA’s Sara Platzer was first in 25.34. In the 400 medley relay, Notre Dame’s team of Hulick, Stephens, Garcia and Carroll was 10th in 4:17.46, while the “B” relay of Ann Barton, Laurie Musgrave, Brooke Taylor and Johnson was 13th in 4:20.81. Florida State was first in 4:07.70.
