Women's Swimming Completes Season At NCAAs With Solid Swims

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Samantha Maxwell, Amywren Miller, and Christa Riggins each turned in solid performances for the University of Notre Dame women’s swim team on Saturday to end the season at the 2008 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships held in Ohio State’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

Maxwell blitzed through the 200 Breast in 2:14.38, while Miller touched in at 49.79 in the 100 Free and Riggins stroked by in 50.27 in the same event during the preliminary heats.

Arizona took the overall title by gathering 484 team points during the three-day competition. Auburn (348) finished second and Stanford (343) finished third. The meet’s top swimmer award went to Florida’s Caroline Burckle, while Chelsea Davis (Ohio State), Emma Friesen (Hawaii) and Brittany Viola (Miami) shared diver of the meet honors. Arizona coach Frank Busch was named the top swimming coach, and Ohio State’s Vince Panzano took the same honor on the diving side.
