April 18, 2007

The Notre Dame women’s soccer team will play a spring makeup game tonight (Wed., April 18) versus Northwestern, at 7:00 p.m. The game replaces the previously scheduled ND-NU game on April 5 that was canceled due to weather. The Irish – who opened their spring with wins over Illinois (4-2, on March 30) and Drake (6-0; April 15) – then will conclude the spring season in Wylie, Texas, with games versus Missouri (April 21; 7:00) and Baylor (April 22; 1:00).

Rising senior Amanda Cinalli scored twice in the win over Illinois, with sophomore-to-be Michele Weissenhofer and outgoing senior Jen Buczkowski also scoring for the Irish (the Illini scored both of their goals late in the game, after ND had made several lineup changes). Cinalli scored twice more in the win over Drake, as did Weissenhofer, with an own-goal and a score by Susan Pinnick rounding out that 6-0 win.

Rising junior midfielder Becca Mendoza is off to a strong showing in the spring and assisted on both of Cinalli’s goal versus Drake. Kerri Hanks – who won the Hermann Trophy last fall during her sophomore season – helped set up three of the goals in the Drake game.

The Notre Dame women’s soccer spring schedule is listed below. Note that admission for all home games is free of charge. Periodic spring updates will be posted on und.com.
