Women's Lacrosse Trio Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Senior Lael O’Shaughnessy and juniors Tina Fedarcyk and Alissa Moser have been named to the inaugural all-BIG EAST team. O’Shaughnessy, also an all-BIG EAST preseason selection, and Fedarcyk were voted to the first team, while Moser was a second-team pick. The three helped lead the 2001 Irish to their first 10-win season at 10-5, just a year after finishing 5-10, and to third place in the BIG EAST after being picked in the preseason to finish fourth.

O’Shaughnessy completed her Notre Dame career with 24 goals and 28 assists for a team-high 52 points, the second highest season point total in her four-year, 57-game career. Voted team MVP this season for the first time, O’Shaughnessy leaves Notre Dame with school records for career goals (128), career assists (68) and career points (195). The Alexandria, Va., native came to Notre Dame from St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes High School as the first high school senior to sign an Irish women’s lacrosse national letter of intent.

Fedarcyk led the Irish this season with 42 groundballs and 30 caused turnovers. The Millersville, Md., native was third on the team with 17 draw controls. Fedarcyk also chipped in three goals and a pair of assists for five points. Moser set the single-season school record for draw controls with 40 in the 15 games of the season (2.67). The North Wales, Pa., native finished with 17 goals, fourth most on the team, and four assists for 21 points, also fourth best.
