Women's Lacrosse Falls to Harvard, 15-10

April 23, 1999

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite spotting the visiting Irish a two-goal lead at the beginning of the game, the Harvard Crimson finally found a scoring touch lacking in it’s last four games against ranked opponents and downed Notre Dame, 15-10 this afternoon on Ohiri Field in Cambridge.

After the Irish put up a pair of goals in the opening six minutes, Lauren Corkery (Winchester, MA) put up three consecutive tallies surrounding a Kerry Callihan (Churchville, PA) goal to find the score knotted at three. The Crimson took the lead for good on back-to-back goals by senior tri-captain Claudia Asano (Concord, MA) in the 15th minute.

Asano lead all Harvard scorers on the afternoon with four goals and two assists, while Corkery tallied five goals on the afternoon. Heather Hussey (Garden City, NY) had three goals and Claire Parker (Wayland, MA) had two to round out the multiple-goal scorers for the Crimson.

Callihan finished with two goals and two assists on the afternoon to lead the Irish in scoring. Kathryn Perrella (Valley Cottage, NY) scored three times and Maura Doyle (Cookeysville, MD) twice to round out the Notre Dame top scorers. Irish goalie Carrie Marshall (Colorado Springs, CO) made 12 saves, while Harvard’s Keltie Donelan (Darien, CT) recorded six.

Harvard returns to action on Sunday when they host Columbia in a 1 pm Ivy League contest. Notre Dame will play Columbia in a non-conference matchup on Ohiri Field tomorrow at noon.
