NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team will play a 15-game schedule in 1999, Irish head coach Tracy Coyne announced on Thursday. Notre Dame will open its third season of varsity women’s lacrosse against Boston College in Fairfax, Va., on March 8. Coyne led the Irish to a 5-4 record in their first varsity season in 1997 and to a 7-6 record in 1998.

Notre Dame’s home schedule will include games against Ohio State, Connecticut, Davidson, Denver, Duke and Yale with the home opener slated for March 26, against Ohio State at 4:00 p.m. The Irish play four teams they beat in 98, Denver, Davidson, Ohio State and Gannon, and five teams that beat Notre Dame last year, Vanderbilt, Duke, Syracuse, Columbia and Harvard.

Notre Dame will spend the Easter weekend in Philadelphia with games at Villanova on Sat., April 3, and at Pennsylvania on Mon., April 5. The Irish will travel to St. Petersburg, Fla., for part of their spring break when they will play Richmond at Eckerd College on march 11. Two tournaments will precede the 15 games, the South of the Border Tournament on Feb. 27, in Durham, N.C., and the William & Mary Tournament in Williamsburg, Va., on March 6.
