Women's Golf Set To Conclude Fall Slate

NOTRE DAME, Ind. –

The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team concludes its fall season when it takes to the course for the three-day Alamo Invitational on Sunday through Tuesday. The tournament, which will be played at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas, stands as a par 72 and plays at 6,323 yards. Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. following a split-tee format.

Along with 17th ranked Tulane and 18th ranked Notre Dame, the 14-team tournament field also features Tulsa (41) and Wisconsin (48) along with Texas A&M (42), which Notre Dame tied for second with in 2009.

Set to travel south for the three-day tournament are seniors So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Preparatory Academy) and captain Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading), junior Becca Huffer (Denver, Colo./Littleton) and freshmen Nicole Zhang (Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Carroll) and Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Calif./Cypress).

The Irish traveled to San Antonio in 2009 for the Alamo Invitational, however the tournament was shortened to only one round due to heavy rain. After the 18 holes, the Irish tied for second with Texas A&M, recording a 292 (+4). 2010 graduate Annie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep.) earned co-medalist honors after carding a two-under par score of 70.

COMPETITION:
The teams participating in the Alamo Invitational include (10.27 Golfstat rankings in parentheses) UTSA (67), Baylor (51), Central Arkansas (121), Central Florida, Colorado (17), Kansas State (62), Nebraska (122), SMU (132), Texas A&M (42), TCU (38), Tulane (13), Tulsa (41) and Wisconsin (48).

FORMAT:
Each team will be comprised of five golfers with the four lowest scores counting toward the team score. The three-day tournament will have an 11:00 a.m. split-tee start on Sunday and Monday, followed by an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday. The first Irish team member will tee-off at 11:40 a.m. and will be paired up with Tulane and TCU for the first round of play.
