Women's Golf Plays Host To Adidas Fall Invitational In Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Port St. Lucie, Fla. – The Notre Dame women’s golf team travels to Port St. Lucie, Fla., where the Irish will play host to 10 other schools at the Adidas Fall Invitational on Oct. 21-22. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the par 72, 5,985-yard Dye Course at the PGA Village.

The Teams: The 11-team tournament field includes: Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Baylor, Iowa State, Kent State, Missouri, Nebraska, North Texas, Notre Dame and Youngstown State.

Dates and Times: Monday’s (Oct. 21) action will feature 36 holes of play beginning at 8:30 a.m. (EDT) with a shotgun start. The second round will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m. (EDT). On Tuesday (Oct. 22), the final round will start with a shotgun start at 8:30 p.m. Monday, October 14 play will consist of an 8:30 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start for round one. Round two will begin immediately following the first round with a shotgun start. Tuesday, October 15 will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CDT).

Irish Lineup: With Notre Dame on fall break, Coach Debby King will have all nine of her team members playing in the Adidas Fall Invitational. The six members of the scoring lineup will include: Karen Lotta (So., Los Angeles, Calif.), Sarah Bassett (Fr., Spokane, Wash.), Katie Brophy (Fr., Spokane, Wash.), Shannon Byrne (Jr., Arlington Heights, Ill.), Suzie Hayes (Fr., Dublin, Ireland) and Terri Taibl (Sr., Elm Grove, Wis.). Playing as individual entrants are Lauren Barbir (Fr., Montgomery, Tex.), Rebecca Rogers (Jr., Alpharetta, Ga.) and Lauren Gebauer (Fr., Columbus, Ohio).

Last Tournament: The Irish finished in a tie for seventh at the Marilyn Smith/Sunflower Invitational on Oct. 14-15. Notre Dame turned in two of its best rounds of the season (307-308) before shooting a 320 in the final round for a 935 total. Sarah Bassett (76-74-81-231) and Karen Lotta (77-77-77-231) tied for 20th in the field of 92 players. Katie Brophy (77-76-80-233) tied for 28th, Shannon Byrne (77-81-82-240) tied for 50th an Rebecca Rogers was 76th with a 249 (81-83-85).

Irish Leaders: Notre Dame has four golfers with averages under 80.00. Bassett leads the team with a 78.56 average after three tournaments. Lotta is second with 78.92 while Brophy and Gebauer are tied for third with 79.33 averages.

Next For The Irish: Notre Dame’s women’s golf team will close the fall schedule when the Irish travel to Pinehurst, N.C. to participate in the Pine Needles Invitational on Nov. 4-5.
