NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Women’s golf head coach Susan Holt announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Notre Dame, beginning in the fall of 2010. The two signees are Ashley Armstrong of Flossmoor, Ill. and Kelli Oride of Lihue, Hawaii.

“Ashley is a Notre Dame kid,” Holt says. “She has always wanted to attend Notre Dame and fortunately for us, she is a great golfer as well. Ashley will be a great addition to the team in every way. Her impact on the program will be felt from day one on campus.”

Armstrong is enrolled at Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Ill., and is currently ranked 53rd according to Jr. Golfweek and owns a Jr. Golf Scoreboard Ranking national ranking of 50.

Armstrong has earned eight top-10 finishes in American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments, including second-place finishes in the 2010 Randy Wise Junior Open, the 2009 Flossmoor Junior Open and the 2008 Future Legends tournament. She is also a two-time (2009 and 2010) Hewlett Packard AJGA Scholastic All-American member, which exemplifies her strength both on the course and in the classroom.

The four-time MVP at Homewood-Flossmoor High School has led her team to an Illinois State Championship in 2009, while finishing runner-up in both 2008 and 2010.

Armstrong has registered 22 total wins and 40 top-five finishes, while carding five rounds under par score for an average score of 74.

Oride is in her final year at Kauai High School in Lihue, Hawaii. She is currently ranked 19th according to the Jr. Golf Scoreboard and 20th by Jr. Golfweek.

“Kelli is going to be an impact player immediately,” Holt says. “She has a lot of tournament experience and will come here and make solid contributions right away. Kelli will be a great addition to the team in every aspect.”

Among Oride’s long list of tournament experience include finishing 25th in a field of 156 at the 2010 USGA Girls Junior Amateur Championships, 20th of 137 competitors at the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships and participating in the USGA Public Linx Championship, which was held at the Warren Golf Course.

Oride enters her final golf season at Kauai H.S. as a three-time state medalist and two-time state runner-up.

Armstrong and Oride mark Holt’s fourth highly-touted recruiting class. Holt, and assistant coach Kyle Lynne Veltri have brought in five top-25 ranked recruits (Katie Conway, So-Hyun Park, Becca Huffer, Nicole Zhang and Oride).
