WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Notre Dame women’s golf team took 10 strokes off its first round score to card a second round 293 (+5) at the Landfall Tradition on Saturday, which is being played at the Country Club of Landfall on the Pete Dye Course (6,166 yards/par 72).
With Saturday’s performance, the Irish moved up to 11th in the standings (303-293-596) with one round of play remaining.
Wake Forest took over the 36-hole lead after carding a second round 284, led by Jennifer Kupcho’s 66. Kupcho (73-66-139) is also in first on the individual leaderboard, followed by Purdue’s August Kim (72-68-140) and Alabama’s Cheyenne Knight (70-70-140). South Carolina (297-282-579) and Oklahoma (284-295-579) are tied for second on the team leaderboard.
The final round will get underway on Sunday morning, beginning with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
LEADING THE NOTRE DAME LINEUP
Sophomore Isabella DiLisio and freshman Mia Ayer each shot even-par 72’s to lead the Irish on day two. DiLisio took four strokes off of her first round score and birdied hole No. 7 and hole No. 11. DiLisio’s 28 pars through two rounds of play are tied for the second-most in the field.
Ayer had an even bigger turnaround, taking seven strokes off of her first round score to card Saturday’s 72. She birdied the first, 12th and 16th holes and played the back nine (which was her first nine holes of the day) at one-under par.
