NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame women’s soccer freshman Jennifer Westendorf has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

The Irish leading scorer lifted the Irish to a 1-0 victory over No. 11 North Carolina on Friday, giving the Irish their first home win over the Tar Heels in series history. Westendorf shares the honor with Duke’s Christina Gibbons.

Fouled just outside the penalty box in the 57th minute, Westendorf’s free kick from the top of the box found the back of the net for her second free-kick goal of the season. The goal propelled the Irish to a dominant second half, as the Irish went on to outshoot the Tar Heels 11-2 in the final 33 minutes without allowing a shot on goal. Westendorf led all players with six shots, including two on frame.

The Irish (10-2-3, 5-1-1 ACC) will be back in action this week with its final two regular-season road games, meeting Virginia Tech (10-4-2, 2-3-2 ACC) at 3:30 p.m. ET Thursday before wrapping up the trip at Wake Forest (9-6-0, 1-6-0) at noon ET Sunday.
