Notre Dame, Ind. – The honors have continued this week for Notre Dame point guard Chris Thomas. Named the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week on Monday (Feb. 16), the junior from Indianapolis, Ind., who has averaged 26.3 points and 3.8 assists in the Irish last four outings (three of them victories), also was selected as ESPN.com’s Player of Week and was tabbed by Dick Vitale as his Co-Player of the Week.
Vitale also chose Notre Dame as his Team of the Week in recognition of its three consecutive BIG EAST wins against No. 5 Connecticut, Seton Hall and No. 24 Syracuse.
Thomas has scored 20-plus points in each of the last four contests, marking the first time in his career that he has registered four consecutive 20-point performances. In a 66-58 loss to Pittsburgh, he scored 23 points and then followed with a season-high 31-point effort in the Irish’s win (80-74) over the Huskies.
Thomas tallied 26 points in the three-point victory (71-68) over Seton Hall and netted 25 in Monday night’s 84-72 win over Syracuse at the Carrier Dome.
