Sophomore setter Kristen Kinder has been named Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week by the conference office after leading the Irish through two victories last weekend and securing Notre Dame’s sixth BIG EAST regular-season title with a perfect 12-0 league mark in 2001.

Kinder played a large part in Notre Dame’s two three-game victories over St. John’s and Seton Hall last weekend. She set the team to a .321 hitting mark against the Pirates on Sunday and a .400 mark against the Red Storm on Friday. She amassed 81 assists in the two victories (13.50 per game) while also making contributions in every statistical category. For the week she averaged 1.17 kills per game (seven total), 1.67 digs per game (10 total) and 1.00 blocks per game (six total).

Kinder shares the weekly award with Pittsburgh’s Wendy Hatlestad.

The BIG EAST also announced the pairings for this weekend’s BIG EAST Championship, which will be held at Fitzgerald Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Nov. 17 and 18. Notre Dame (18-5) will enter the field with the number-one seed and face #4 Connecticut (21-6) at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 17. Second-seeded Rutgers (16-5) and #3 Georgetown (17-7) will meet in the other semifinal at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
