Volleyball's Emily Loomis Named Co-BIG EAST Player Of The Week

University of Notre Dame sophomore outside hitter Emily Loomis (Fort Wayne, Ind.) was named co-BIG EAST Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday, Sept. 30, for her performance in Notre Dame’s two victories last week.

Loomis recorded two double-doubles as Notre Dame knocked off Connecticut and St. John’s in four games. She averaged 5.00 kills per game last week, hitting for 20 kills on both matches. Against the Red Storm, she had 20 kills, 10 digs and six blocks.

As of Sept. 30, Loomis has 183 kills this season (3.81 per game) with 85 digs and 58 blocks. The Irish are 11-3, 2-0 in the BIG EAST and are set to face Rutgers and Seton Hall on the road this weekend.

Loomis shared the award with Megan Miller from Pittsburgh.
