Irish Host Louisville For Senior Night

NOTRE DAME, IND. —  Notre Dame hosts Louisville this Friday (Nov. 16) in its final home match and penultimate contest of the 2018 season. The Irish enter the contest at 15-11 overall and 9-7 in ACC play. The matchup vs. Louisville will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra. Notre Dame will close the 2018 regular season the following Wednesday (Nov. 21) at Duke.

Game Notes: Louisville Game Notes

Notre Dame and Louisville will meet for the 37th time ever on Friday with the Irish holding a 21-15 advantage in the all-time series. The two sides met earlier this season on October 10 in a match that was played at Sacred Heart Academy after power outages at the University of Louisville. The Cardinals topped the Irish, 3-2. Charley Niego led Notre Dame with 21 kills in the contest.

Kelly Byrne, Ryann DeJarld, Meg Morningstar and Rebecca Nunge are all playing in their final match at Purcell Pavilion tonight against the Cardinals. 

A two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll recipient, Byrne has racked up 249 digs in 69 matches over the past four seasons. In 2017, DeJarld set the Notre Dame single-season record with 747 digs, and has collected the most digs in program history during her four-year career. She also became the first player in program history to be named to the ACC First-Team in 2017. Morningstar has played in 104 matches over her four years with the team, accounting for 373 kills and 398 blocks. Nunge has played in 119 matches in her four-year career, recording 854 kills, 360 blocks and 246 digs. Nunge and DeJarld have served as co-captains for the Irish this season.
