Volleyball Adds Indiana-Native Avery Ross to Its Incoming Class

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame head volleyball coach Salima Rockwell announced the addition of Indiana-native Avery Ross for its incoming class. Ross, a standout at Pendleton Heights High in Pendleton, signed her National Letter of Intent to join Fighting Irish volleyball in the fall of 2022.

“We are so grateful to keep the tradition alive with the Ross family and Notre Dame.” Coach Rockwell said, “Avery is a high-flying, dynamic attacker that is so fun to watch. She gets on the ball fast and is as effective attacking from the back row as she is from the front row. She has an incredible work ethic and never takes a play off. It is incredibly important to us to keep the best talent in the state and we did just that with Avery. She is a perfect fit for our team and for Notre Dame. Welcome to the family, Avery!”

At Pendleton Heights, she led her team to four-consecutive Madison County Championships and an overall record of 98-33. In her career, she amassed 1,500 career kills and led the state with 597 kills as a senior where she earned second team All-State honors. Not just an attacking threat, Ross added 34 blocks, 34 aces and was second on her team with 274 digs in her final campaign. She also earned two Volleyball Athlete of the Year awards as recognized by The Herald Bulletin.

Ross competed with Munciana Volleyball during club play, one of the nation’s longest-running volleyball training programs.

Ross is the daughter of former men’s basketball monogram winner, Joe Ross.
