Notre Dame senior defensive end Victor Abiamiri has been selected to the mid-season watch list for the 2006 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award. Abiamiri is one of 28 defensive ends named to the watch list that will be shortened to five to six finalists in November. The final vote will be concluded on Dec. 4 and the winner will be announced Dec. 6.
Abiamiri is in the midst of another strong campaign as he has tallied 26 tackles including team-highs of six sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss and 11 quarterback hurries through seven games. The Randallstown, Md. native has already established a career high for QB hurries this year and is quickly closing in on his single-season bests for tackles (48), sacks (eight), and tackles for loss (15).
