U2 And Notre Dame Team Up For Exclusive Vinyl Release

The University of Notre Dame has partnered with the iconic rock band U2 to produce a limited-edition vinyl pressing of the group’s upcoming ‘Songs of Surrender’ album (out March 17 on Interscope Records). Notre Dame is the only collegiate property partnering with U2 for their album release which will feature Fighting Irish-inspired design elements.

A limited number of albums will be available on release date, Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17, exclusively at the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore. See store for details.

U2 formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 1976, and will officially release ‘Songs of Surrender’ – which features 40 new acoustic & re-imagined recordings from the band’s catalog – on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2023. This special edition 2 LP vinyl release features 16 of those tracks on double disc colored vinyl and is limited to 2500 copies worldwide. This special edition is priced at $50.

The Notre Dame special edition album package will include: 

  • Notre Dame gold and blue vinyl records.
  • Liner sleeves with pictures of the band members with a Notre Dame color presentation.
  • The Notre Dame Monogram featured on the included poster.
  • The Notre Dame Monogram on all four record labels.
  • A co-branded Notre Dame sticker on the front cover of the album wrapper.

U2 has been connected to Notre Dame since its legendary performance in the Joyce Center on October 10, 2001, the band’s first performance after 9/11 and the kickoff of the third leg of their Elevation tour. One of the smallest arenas the band has played over the past 25 years, the concert was also one of the first the group streamed live to audiences around the world
