Two Irish Golfers Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – On Thursday, the Atlantic Coast Conference released its 2017-18 All-ACC Academic Team for men’s golf, honoring the top golfers who achieved above a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Notre Dame was represented by two Irish golfers on the list in Kevin Conners and Miguel Delgado.

Conners achieved a semester GPA of 3.852, earning a spot on the Dean’s list. Conners earned two top-10 finishes on the year and three within the top-25, averaging 72.95 strokes per round. The rising senior achieved a low round of 66 (-6), which ranked as the second best in school history. The Pennsylvania native also carded a low tournament score of 206 (-10), which ranked as the third best all-time.

Next, Delgado earned a 3.3 semester GPA. The rising senior co-led the team with three top-10 finishes and seven within the top-25. Delgado recorded the second lowest stroke average on the team with a 72.19, which also marked the third lowest in program history. The California native carded a low tournament score of 205 (-11), tying for the lowest all-time in school history. All-in-all, 29 of his 32 rounds counted towards the team score.

Finally, the ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
