Former Notre Dame women’s golf standouts Lisa Maunu (’09, St. Thomas, Ontario) and Annie Brophy (’10, Spokane, WA) are set to compete in the Ladies Professional Golf Associations’ Symetra Tour this weekend (Friday-Sunday, Aug. 10-12) at the Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Ind., as part of the first annual Four Winds Invitational.

Brophy enters the weekend with eight starts in 2012 on the the Symetra Tour, while her counterpart, Maunu, will make her first start of the season.

Currently on the tour, Brophy has shot three rounds under par in 18 attempts and achieved 39 birdies (T102). Brophy has posted a 0.663 driving accuracy (T86), averages 1.738 putts per green (94) and has a 247.9 driving average (T86).

Brophy, a four-time monogram winner and four-time all-BIG EAST selection, won medalist honors at the 2008 BIG EAST Championship while also helping lead Notre Dame to the team title. As a freshman in 2007, she was third at the conference championship and second as a senior in ’10.

As a captain during her senior season in 2009-10 campaign, Brophy tied for first at the 2010 Alamo Invitational. Among her other top-five finishes during her Notre Dame career was a fourth-place finish at the 2008 Lady Northern Invitational. Brophy ranks fifth all-time with a 76.6 career stroke average while competing in 43 tournaments from 2006-10.

Manu, a four-year monogram winner and two-time captain for the Irish, won the BIG EAST individual crown at the 2009 championship. She also was the Cougar Classic in’07. A three-time all-BIG EAST selection, Manu competed finished with a 77.24 career stroke average over her four-year tenure at Notre Dame.

The field of 144 players in the event will compete for a season-high purse of $150,000 with $22,500 going to the field. Round one at the Blackthorn Golf Club will begin at 7:45 a.m. on Friday (Aug. 10). All proceeds from the event will benefit the Memorial Children’s Hospital.
