Troy Murphy Earns BIG EAST Co-Player Of The Week Honors.

NOTRE DAME, Ind.–Notre Dame forward Troy Murphy (Morristown, N.J.) has been named the BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 blocked shots in leading the Irish to two victories last week. Murphy, who earns the honor for the first time this season and seventh time in his career, shares the award with Syracuse junior forward Preston Shumpert.

Murphy scored 23 points, grabbed four rebounds and blocked four shots in Notre Dame’s 107-68 victory over Loyola (Chicago). He reached the 30-point mark for the 14th time in his career in Notre Dame’s 69-51 victory over 13th-ranked Cincinnati at the Wooden Tradition as he scored 30 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked a career-high six shots. The 6-11 junior has scored in double figures in 66 of 67 career games and in 54 straight contests.

Murphy is averaging 28.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.7 blocked shots. Notre Dame is 3-0 and ranked 11th in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls.
