NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The National Collegiate Tennis Classic, scheduled for this weekend in Las Vegas, Nev., has been cancelled due to sponsorship complications. As a result, the six Notre Dame men’s tennis players scheduled to compete will have the weekend off. The 27th-ranked Irish will open their spring season next Friday, Jan. 24 vs. Indiana at 4:00 p.m. in the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
Head coach Bob Bayliss, whose team was 23-7 a year ago and finished ranked 14th, also announced that the Irish have added a date to their spring schedule to compensate for the cancellation of the National Collegiate Tennis Classic. Notre Dame will travel to La Jolla, Calif. for the Pacific Coast Doubles tournament from Feb. 28-March 2.
