2015 Schedule

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Seven matches against 2014 NCAA Championship qualifiers — including a home showdown with seven-time national champion Penn State Sept. 12 — highlights a 32-match schedule for new University of Notre Dame volleyball head coach Jim McLaughlin in his first season under the Golden Dome in 2015.

Notre Dame will play 13 home matches — with 10 coming against Atlantic Coast Conference foes — and 19 road matches during a year that will see the Irish compete in 11 different states.

Highlighting the home schedule at Purcell Pavilion is the annual Golden Dome Invitational (Sept. 11-12). This year, the Irish will welcome in Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi State, Ohio Valley Conference member Eastern Kentucky and Big Ten member Penn State, who won its Division I record seventh national title last season under head coach Russ Rose.

Other non-conference matches include tournaments at Middle Tennessee State (Aug. 29-30), Seton Hall (Sept. 4-5) and Purdue (Sept. 18-19). Between the three tourneys, the Irish will play NCAA Championship qualifiers Hofstra and Seton Hall in addition to 2013 NCAA quarterfinalist Purdue.

Key home ACC opponents include former BIG EAST rival Louisville (Sept. 25), NCAA third round qualifier Florida State (Sept. 27) and NCAA Championship participant Duke (Oct. 16).

Road ACC matches against 2015 NCAA Championship qualifiers include quarterfinalist North Carolina (Nov. 1), Florida State and second round participant Miami (Nov. 15).

After winning the 2005 NCAA Championship at Washington as part of 13 NCAA Championship teams in 14 seasons with the Huskies, McLaughlin brings his winning pedigree to a program that returns eight monogram winners from a squad that finished 6-23 overall including 3-15 in Atlantic Coast Conference play in 2014.
