Tom Glatzel Named GWLL Player Of The Week

March 13, 2001

NOTRE DAME, Ind. –

Senior attacker Tom Glatzel (Baltimore, Md.) was named the Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) Player of the Week for the second time this season after matching his career-high by scoring five goals in seventh-ranked Notre Dame’s 9-4 win at 18th-ranked Rutgers last week as the Irish improved to 3-0 on the season.

Glatzel, an honorable mention United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American last season after leading the Irish in scoring, netted four of his five goals in the first half as Notre Dame led 6-0 at halftime over the Scarlet Knights. This season, Glatzel leads the Irish with 12 goals and three assists (15 points) in three games. He also has a team-best .429 shooting percentage and has been the leading goal-scorer for Notre Dame in each game in 2001.

Glatzel has been named the league’s player of the week twice in the first three weeks of the season. He also earned the honor once in 2000 and earned national player-of-the-week recognition after scoring four goals and dishing off three assists in Notre Dame’s 15-13 upset of Loyola in the first round of the 2000 NCAA tournament.
