Tom Fallon Invitational All-Tournament Team Announced

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The 20008 Tom Fallon Invitational All-Tournament team has been announced. David Anderson (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich), Tyler Davis (Nashville, Tenn./Father Ryan), Daniel Stahl (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Casey Watt (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) earned All-Tournament team honors for the Irish. The other three honorees included two selections from Western Michigan, Michael Calderone and Kevin Hayward, as well as Harvard’s Sasha Ermakov. Davis and Stahl were named to the TFI All-Tournament team for the second consecutive season.

Anderson (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) posted a 4-1 record in singles play and a 2-1 mark in doubles at the 22nd annual TFI. On Friday, Anderson notched two singles wins, including a 6-4, 6-4 defeat of Michigan State’s Scott Rasmussen. On Saturday, Anderson had another big singles victory, 6-2, 6-3, over Ball State’s Shaun Bussert.

Davis had a win in singles play on Sunday, as he knocked off Michael Muskievicz of Wisconsin 6-4, 6-3. For the weekend, Davis posted a 4-0 record in singles play while adding two additional wins in doubles action. In the second session of singles play on Friday, Davis was able to bounce back after dropping the second set to beat Harvard’s Aba Omodele-Lucien, 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6).

Over the three-day event, Stahl amassed a perfect 7-0 record, including a 4-0 mark in singles play and a 3-0 record in doubles action. In his final singles match of the Invitational, Stahl knocked off Eduardo Pavia of Ball State 6-2, 6-4. Stahl’s singles play was so effective that he was able to post all four of his wins in straight sets.

On the tournament’s final day, Watt defeated Alistair Felton of Harvard 6-3, 6-2. For the weekend, Watt recorded four singles wins and, teamed with Stephen Havens (Cincinnati, Ohio), added three doubles wins. Watt also had a big win over Harvard’s Mike Kalfayan on Friday afternoon, coming back to win the three-setter 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6).

Calderone and Hayward had strong performances for the Broncos, as Hayward had four singles victories and Calderone three. Rounding out the All-Tournament team, Ermakov posted five wins on the weekend, including three in singles play.

The Irish return to action this week, as several players travel to Columbus, Ohio to take part in the ITA Midwest Regionals. The event, which begins on October 16, will take place at the Ohio State University Tennis Center.
