Time For The 2017 Erg-A-Thon!

Sept. 5, 2017

Join the fight against Pancreatic Cancer today!

The University of Notre Dame Rowing Team’s 2017 Erg-A-Thon, held to support the Harper Cancer Research Lab’s efforts against pancreatic cancer, will be held this Friday, September 8, from 1:00 p.m. ET to 7:00 p.m. ET at the Fieldhouse Mall, just adjacent to LaFortune Student Center on Notre Dame’s campus.

The events consists of two rowing ergs, which will be used continuously throughout the event by current members of the Irish rowing team. There also will be additional ergs available for participants to stop by, provide a donation and challenge a friend or Irish team member to a 250-meter race.

There also will be a silent auction for a multitude of prizes, including tickets to Notre Dame men’s and women’s basketball and hockey games, pre-game sideline passes to the Notre Dame – Georgia football game on September 9 and the ability to bid for naming rights to one of the Irish rowing team’s boats.

Eighty percent of the funds raised will go to the Notre Dame Undergraduate Research department at the Harper Cancer Research Institute’s Pancreatic Cancer Research Lab. This lab and many other research institutes around the world are working to better understand the fourth deadliest, but least studied form of cancer and push closer to a cure every day. For the 80 percent given to the Harper Cancer Research Institute and direct donations on the website, the funds will be matched three-to-one by the College of Science Office of Research and other benefactors.

Twenty percent of the funds raised will go to pancan.org.

The Erg-A-Thon began as an opportunity for the Irish rowing team to get more involved in service, specifically in an area where teammates were directly affected. Multiple members of the Notre Dame rowing team have been affected by pancreatic cancer, including rowing alumnae and current members of the team.

If you are unable to attend the Erg-A-Thon in person, you can make a donation to #FightPanCan (Fight Pancreatic Cancer) at any time. If you donate through the website, 100% of your donation will go to the organization chosen.
