Tickets For NCAA Midwest Regional In Ft. Wayne To Go On Sale Oct. 1

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Tickets for the NCAA Hockey Midwest Regional to be held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Sat.-Sun., March 27-28, 2010 will go on sale on Thursday, Oct. 1, beginning at 10 a.m..

Tickets for the regional are available in three game packages and are $85 and $75 for youth under the age of 18. They can be purchased by phone at 800-745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com or in-person at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum box office. All four regionals will sell tickets in three-game packages only. It is anticipated that the regional sites will sell out, but if any of the four are not sold out by March 21, tickets will be available for individual sessions at an increased ticket price.

As a bonus, any person buying tickets on the first day regional tickets go on sale will have the opportunity to win two tickets to the 2010 Men’s Frozen Four to be held at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. Each region will award a pair of tickets to a person who is randomly selected from people who purchased tickets through the Internet, in-person or by phone.

If a host institution is selected to participate in the 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship, they will be assigned to their host site, meaning that if Notre Dame qualifies, the Irish will be assigned to the Fort Wayne regional. There are two games scheduled for Saturday, March 27 with starting times set for 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The regional championship game on Sunday, March 28 has an 8:00 p.m. starting time.

In all, 16 teams are invited to the NCAA Ice Hockey Tournament with four to each region based on season records. The Northeast Regional will be held at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. The East Regional will be at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y., and the XCel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota will host the West Regional.

Notre Dame has appeared in the NCAA Regionals four times in their hockey history, including each of the last three seasons. In 2007, the Irish were in the Midwest Regional in Grand Rapids, Mich. In 2008, Notre Dame played in the West Regional in Colorado Springs, Colo., and last season, the Irish again played in the Midwest Regional at Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Irish were 31-6-3 in 2008-09 and were recently selected fifth in the nation in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine preseason poll.
