NOTRE DAME, Ind. – WatchND Stream | Game Recap | Final Stats

After taking a bye week off, much like your favorite team, University of Notre Dame football fans once again can spend Thursday night reminiscing about one of their team’s greatest moments and sharing the experiences with fellow Irish fans around the world through the school’s “Thursday Night Classics presented by TireRack.com” streamed live at WatchND. Tonight, WatchND relives the 1998 LSU game, game which saw the Irish mount a furious fourth-quarter rally for a thrilling, 39-36, come-from-behind win.

Quarterback Jarious Jackson was the star of the day for Notre Dame, throwing for 276 yards while gaining 80 more on the ground. It helped overcome two outstanding performances on the LSU side of the ball as tailback Kevin Faulk ran for 108 yards and wide receiver Abram Booty caught eight passes for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Made possible by the University recently regaining control of archival NBC game telecasts, the series reflect a unique partnership between Fighting Irish Digital Media (FIDM) and the innovative social media specialists from SpredFast. The interactive WatchND webpage will filter Twitter activity using the hashtag #NDFBClassics. The viewing screen will even include a leaderboard to see which fans engage the deepest through retweets and other social interactions on a weekly basis.

The social media-enhanced classic game streams will be only available live and not in an on-demand format in an effort to help bring Irish fans together globally for a shared viewing experience.

“Thursday Night Classics” will air at 8 p.m. ET the Thursday of each football game week in 2014 with many of the upcoming editions also featuring exclusive commentary from participants in that game. The show returns on Oct. 2 and will revisit the 2012 Stanford game, a contest claimed by the Irish in overtime.
