Three Notre Dame Players Named To All-ACC Teams

May 5, 2014

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Following the Notre Dame men’s tennis team’s first appearance in the Atlantic Coast Championship, three members of the Irish squad have earned All-ACC honors. Senior Greg Andrews was named first team All-ACC while both sophomore Quentin Monaghan and senior Ryan Bandy were named third team All-ACC.

“Greg, Ryan, and Quentin have all had great seasons for us, and it’s awesome to see them get the recognition that they deserve,” says head coach Ryan Sachire. “We don’t train and compete for individual accomplishments, as team success is paramount in our program. However, this is a special honor, and it is something that our guys can take with them for the rest of their lives. All three are extremely excited about what we have coming up in the next few weeks.”

Eleven ACC institutions had representatives on the All-ACC team, led by five honorees from Virginia. Duke had four representatives, while North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest were each even with Notre Dame with three members. Clemson, Florida State and NC State had two honorees apiece, while Georgia Tech and Miami rounded out the field with one representative each.

The Irish enter play in the NCAA Championship this weekend as they host the regional first and second rounds at the Courtney Tennis Center. Their first-round match against Green Bay will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.
