Three Notre Dame men’s soccer players have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Great Lakes regional teams. Erich Braun (Frankfurt, Germany) was a first-team selection, while Justin Detter (White Lake, Mich.) and Devon Prescod (Marietta, Ga.) earned second and third team honors, respectively.

Braun, a junior forward, led the Irish in scoring for the second time in three seasons as he finished the year with a team-leading 12 goals and three assists (27 points). A first-team All-BIG EAST selection and the 1999 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, scored a goal in all but two games in which the Irish scored a goal in during the 2001 campaign.

Detter, also a first-team all-BIG EAST honoree this season, was Notre Dame’s third-leading scorer with four goals and five assists (13 points). The sophomore midfielder was a member of the BIG EAST all-rookie team in 2000 and was one of three Irish players who started all 19 games in ’01.

Prescod, a sophomore forward, ended the season third in the scoring column with six goals while tying for a team-best six assists for 18 points. He played in all 19 contests and earned 18 starts. As a freshman, he started two of 12 games and scored a goal.

Notre Dame finished with a 12-7 record in ’01 under first-year head coach Bobby Clark and made its first appearance in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1996. The Irish earned a 7-3 BIG EAST record and finished tied for second in the final conference standings, its highest finish since becoming a conference member in 1995.
