NOTRE DAME, Ind. – On the heels of a fifth consecutive BIG EAST Conference Championship last season, three Notre Dame women’s tennis players have earned positions in the 2012-13 Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s preseason rankings.

Britney Sanders will begin the fall season with a career-high singles slot of 98th in the ITA rankings. Sanders compiled 28 singles victories to lead all Notre Dame players in 2011-12, reaching a then career-best ranking of 102 (Feb. 28). She added a 22-5 mark in dual match play.

Co-captain Jennifer Kellner opens her second consecutive campaign ranked in the ITA top 125 after being tabbed 106th in the preseason poll. Kellner opened last season in the 87th position in the rankings, and her 26 singles wins were second to Sanders for the Fighting Irish team lead.

Julie Sabacinski and primary playing partner Sanders enter 2012-13 as the No. 36 duo in the preseason doubles rankings. The pair finished last season with a 13-4 record, reaching a high watermark of 60th in the April 30 ITA poll.

Notre Dame opens the fall season Sept. 28-30 at the adidas Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Ind.
