NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Three members of the Notre Dame women’s golf team have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team for NCAA Division I. Seniors Katie Conway (Wading River, N.J.) and So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea), along with freshman Nicole Zhang (Calgary, Alberta), all received the honor.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

The selection marked the fourth-straight honor for both Conway and Park as NGCA All-American Scholars, becoming the first pair of Irish women’s golfers to received the accolade on four separate occasions.

Conway posted her second-lowest stroke average of her Irish career during her senior campaign, ending the year with a 77.65 mark. She competed in all but one event on the year, earning a four top-25 results including a share of 10th at the Central District Invitational. Conway graduated from the Mendoza College of Business with a degree in finance.

Park competed in all 12 tournaments for the Irish during the 2010-11 season, producing a 75.89 scoring average over her 37 rounds of play. She earned all-BIG EAST recognition by finishing seventh at the BIG EAST Championship in April, the third such distinction of her career. Along with that, Park recorded seven top-25 finishes and four top-10 results, capped by her BIG EAST Championship performance. In addition to her on-the-course accomplishments, Park graduated from the Mendoza College of Business with a degree in accounting.

Zhang put together a complete freshman campaign for Notre Dame, ending the year with the team’s best stroke average for the season with a 74.33 mark. The year saw her earn nine top-25 results and six top-10 finishes, including earning medalist honors at the Mary Fossum Invitational in her very first tournament with the team. She also joined Park on the all-BIG EAST team after finishing tied for 12th at the BIG EAST Championship. Zhang recently completed the First Year of Studies Program.

The three NGCA All-American Scholar members tied the Notre Dame record for honorees in a single season. The Irish also had three on five other occasions, including last season when Conway and Park were selected along with Kristin Wetzel.
