Three Irish Players Taken In 2022 PLL Draft

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — University of Notre Dame men’s lacrosse standouts Arden Cohen, Wheaton Jackoboice and Jason Reynolds had their names called on Tuesday night during the 2022 Premier Lacrosse League draft. Cohen is headed to the Redwoods, Jackoboice to the Whipsnakes and Reynolds to the Waterdogs.

With the three selections, the Fighting Irish now have had 48 players selected in the history of pro lacrosse drafts. The three selections were also the most of any ACC program and the second most of any team in the country.

Cohen was the first Notre Dame player off the board, as the Redwoods took him third overall in the first round, the second highest selection by a Notre Dame player in the PLL. Cohen has been a lockdown defenseman over his five seasons with the Irish, regularly drawing the other team’s number one scoring threat. Cohen helped the Notre Dame defense allow just 10.08 goals per game, the best mark in the ACC.

Cohen was recently named a USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American after a stellar season. The defenseman earned USILA Team of the Week honors along with the ACC Defensive Player of the Week award after his incredible performance in the win over UNC.

Jackoboice was selected 15th overall in the second round by the Whipsnakes, becoming the first Notre Dame player to ever join the club. Jackoboice was a mainstay in the Irish midfield over his five years in South Bend, playing in 58 games. The midfielder finished with 96 career points off 61 goals and 35 assists.

Reynolds had his named called in the fourth round with the 30th overall pick, as he was selected by the Waterdogs, becoming the first Fighting Irish player to ever be on the team. Reynolds joined the Irish for a grad transfer year in 2022 after completing his undergrad at Richmond. The defenseman started all 12 games for the Irish and finished the season with 28 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.
