NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Three Notre Dame men’s soccer players have earned all-Great Lakes Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Senior defender Aaron Maund and junior midfielder Dillon Powers were named to the second team, while junior forward Ryan Finley was a third-team honoree.

Maund (Dorchester, Mass.) played every possible minute during the 2011 campaign and registered two assists in addition to helping the Irish post six shutouts. The central defender and team captain was a first-team all-BIG EAST selection last month. This was Maund’s third all-region honor. He was an all-Great Lakes Region third-team selection as a sophomore and junior. Maund recently was invited to the 2012 Major League Soccer Draft Combine.

Powers (Plano, Texas), a team captain, tallied six points during the 2011 campaign on one goal and four assists. He started all 18 matches and anchored the central midfield for the Fighting Irish. Powers was named to the all-BIG EAST second team last month. This is his first all-region accolade.

Finley (Lumberton, N.J.) posted team-high totals in goals (7) and points (12) in his first season with the Irish after transferring from Duke, where he earned All-America and all-ACC honors in 2010. The junior produced a team-best two multiple-goal matches this season and was named to the all-BIG EAST second team.

The Fighting Irish finished the 2011 season with a 9-5-4 record, which included a 5-3-1 mark in BIG EAST play.
