NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame track & field program hosted more than 40 teams from across the country at the first day of the Meyo Invitational on Friday evening inside Loftus Sports Center.
The Irish had a pair of strong performances in the women’s 60m hurdles, as Summer Thorpe won the qualifying round with a time of 8.40. Teammate Naya Sharp posted the best time of her career, finishing in 8.44 to rank third through the qualifying rounds.
In the men’s weight throw Logan Kusky stood out for Notre Dame. The senior placed third in the event with a mark of 21.22m. On the women’s side of the weight throw Abbey Kapitan came in fourth with a throw of 20.74m, just .02m shy of her personal record.
Another notable performance from the Irish came from Colton Crum in the pole vault. The sophomore cleared 5.00m to finish fourth in the event.
The Meyo Invitational wraps up on Saturday, with the first event of the day starting at 9:45 a.m. ET at the Loftus Sports Center. There will be a live stream of the meet on WatchESPN on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
