Pacific Palisades, Calif. – The third-ranked Notre Dame doubles’ team of Catrina Thompson and Christian Thompson were looking to become the first duo to repeat as All-American champions, but fourth-seeded and third ranked Roxanne Clarke and Kady Pooler of Arizona State knocked off the twins, 8-4, Sunday in the finals of 2006 Riviera/ITA All-American Championship.

The Thompsons have reached the finals of the prestigious event each of the past three seasons. They dropped to 6-1 on the season and 78-32 for their career. The twins’ winning streak at the All-American championships was snapped at six matches as their all-time record at the event now stands at 10-2.

This is the first of three national championship events during the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season. Two others are the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the season-ending NCAA Championships in May in Athens, Ga.
