Thompson Twins Eliminated In NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals

May 26, 2007

ATHENS, Ga. – Notre Dame’s senior All-American twins Catrina Thompson (Las Vegas, NV) and Christian Thompson (Las Vegas, NV), ranked 12th in the ITA, lost in the quaterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship 6-2, 6-0 to second-ranked Jenna Long and Sara Anundsen of North Carolina Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Thompson twins finish the season with a 30-10 record and close their career at 102-40. The twins already secured their third consecutive All-American honor in doubles — a feat unequalled in Notre Dame women’s tennis history.

Long and Anundsen improve to 27-6 on the season.

The sisters are littered throughout the Notre Dame women’s tennis record book. They not only own the school record for victories by doubles team (102), but also hold the school record for dual match doubles wins (68). The previous school records in each category were 54 and 37, respectively.

The Thompsons also captured the program’s first and only title in an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national championship.
