Thompson to Miss Remainder of 2017-18 Season

Jan. 4, 2018

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s basketball graduate point guard Lili Thompson will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season after tearing her ACL in her right knee during the third quarter of the Wake Forest game on Dec. 31. As a result, the Irish are left with seven active scholarship players and three walk-ons.

“I know this team is mentally tough and we will band together through this challenge and persevere,” Karen & Kevin Keyes Head Women’s Basketball Coach Muffet McGraw said. “It’s certainly an unprecedented situation in my career. We wish Lili a speedy recovery.”

Thompson played in all 14 games and became the primary guard off the bench in the previous eight games. The Texas native averaged 5.9 points per game, a team-best 1.6 steals and boasted a 4.6 assists per game average, which ranked sixth in the ACC.
