ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team’s season officially came to an end today as the team’s No. 1 doubles team fell in the round of 16 in the NCAA Doubles Championship. Sophomore Quinn Gleason and senior Britney Sanders fell to the third-seeded Jamie Loeb and Hayley Carter of North Carolina, 6-2, 6-3.
After dropping the first set 6-2, the Irish came back fighting in the second. They were tied with their Tar Heel opponents at 3-3 before Loeb and Carter won the last three games of the match.
The duo ended the season with a 20-9 doubles record, going 16-8 in the No. 1 position. They are currently ranked 12th in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
