March 26, 2012

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame senior women’s lacrosse player Maggie Tamasitis has earned a spot on the BIG EAST’s Weekly Honor Roll after a six-point performance in a 13-11 victory over conference foe, the league office announced on Monday.

The honor was the second for Tamasitis on the year in addition to the offensive player of the week accolade she received on Feb. 20.

The Boyertown, Pa., scored a pair of goals and dished out four assists in Notre Dame’s 13-11 come-from-behind victory against conference foe Louisville on Saturday afternoon. The victory helped keep the Irish (7-0) as one of only two undefeated teams in the country along with No. 1 Northwestern.

Notre Dame has had someone honored by the league every single week of the season, highlighted by Tamasitis and goalie Ellie Hilling who earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week scrolls, respectively.

In other news, the Irish stayed steady in the newest polls released on Monday. They sit sixth in the deBeer Media Poll, eighth in the LaxPower Computer Ratings and fourth in the ILWomen.com Power Rankings.

The Irish hit the road again this weekend when they battle Rutgers on Friday at 4 p.m., before meeting Loyola (Md.) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
